As we come to the end of another academic year, it’s time to reflect on the wonderful experiences our little explorers have had. We followed a teaching style that emphasises exploration, creativity, and emotional growth, ensuring that our children had a holistic learning experience.

Adventures and Excursions

We have loved following our little explorers’ interests, leading us on numerous adventures. Our trips this year took us to forests, fascinating aircraft museums, and thrilling scooter parks. Each outing provided new opportunities for learning and fun, fostering a love for exploration and curiosity in our children.

Embracing Individuality and Culture

Respecting individuality and celebrating diversity is a cornerstone of our teaching. This year, we explored a wide range of books, such as The Boy with the Pink Hair, which supported our little explorers in embracing differences. We explored various cultures, including traditional dances like the Welsh “Dawns Flodau” for St. David’s Day.

Emotional Awareness

Books like The Colour Monster helped our little explorers understand and express their feelings. One of the most heart-warming moments this year was helping a child overcome their fear of fire. We turned this fear into a fun and educational experience with a sing-along around our fire pit, creating a supportive environment for emotional growth.

Developing Independence

Our children have continued to develop their physical skills and independence through hands-on activities. Inspired by books like Jack and the Beanstalk, they engaged in activities such as cutting lettuce, slicing apples, and shelling peas. These experiences helped our little explorers realise their capabilities, fostering important independence skills in preparation for school.

Real-Life Learning

Learning about people who help us in the community has always been a hugely important part of our teaching. This year, a particularly memorable event was when we learned about hairdressers and had fun cutting Eric’s hair with clippers. Making these experiences real and relatable enriched our children’s understanding of the world around them.

Creative Play

Independent play continues to be a cornerstone of our little explorers’ experience. Their creativity shone through in various projects this year, including a massive junk model robot made in collaboration with older children. These activities sparked imagination and promoted teamwork and cooperation.

World Book Day Celebrations

World Book Day brought a whirlwind of excitement with themed activities that made storytelling come alive. This year, we hosted a special Tiger Who Came to Tea party, rescued Superworm from a messy tray, and made Hungry Caterpillar fruit kebabs. These activities deepened our little explorers’ love for books.

Summer Fun and Learning

As the summer term drew to an end, our little explorers enjoyed long, happy days playing in the garden. They learned about shadows, combined colours using chalks, developed hand muscles with water trigger sprays, and engaged in cooperative play as they helped each other on challenging obstacle courses. Pretending holidays with dolls and exploring our forest garden area were just some of the exciting ways we wrapped up this fantastic year.

Looking Forward

What a fantastic year it has been! We can’t wait to welcome our little explorers back for another exciting academic year next year. Here’s to more adventures, more learning, and more fun!

Thank you for being part of our journey. See you next year!
