Hello, we are 'Little Explorers'
a husband-wife team of experienced Childminding Practitioners.
First registered in 2003,
Our setting has been graded 'Outstanding' by OFSTED since 2008.
"The childminder and her assistant are extremely calm and patient role models who teach children about right and wrong. Children relate extremely well to each other. They are exceptionally caring"
- OFSTED 2016
We aim to provide outstanding childcare and education in a family environment. We offer care for children from 6 months old until age 13.
"Children benefit significantly from the exemplary working relationships between the childminder, her and parents. They settle very quickly into daily routines. Their behaviour and attitudes to learning are excellent."
- OFSTED 2016
We have an extensive range of indoor and outdoor toys and equipment, catering for every need. We maintain a free-flow arrangement from the house to the garden, which allows children a choice of playing environment. The garden is safety surfaced to enable outdoor play all year round.
"The outdoor area provides exciting opportunities for children to explore
and follow their interests."
- OFSTED 2016
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework throughout our work. We continually track Early Years Outcomes and set Next Steps for each child. This enables us to plan personalised activities to best meet the needs of every child. We work alongside parents to achieve this, facilitated by our Individual Educational Plans. This partnership ensures that children receive a high standard of education and meet their next steps on target.
Joanne has completed an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and is currently studying for her degree in Early Childhood studies. We both have up-to-date paediatric first aid certificates and safeguarding qualifications, as well as extensive experience of working with children with special educational needs.
"The childminder has attended extensive training to enhance her teaching.
She supports her assistant extremely well and gives him precise feedback on how to improve his skills. She tracks the achievements of all children to
ensure they make rapid progress".
- OFSTED 2016
We support the educational needs of older children who attend our setting as well. We use a very successful literacy programme called Reading Eggs, tailored for each child's needs. We also have effective strategies in place to develop mathematical skills.
We design activities to promote personal, social, and emotional development (PSED) in our setting too, helping the progression of social skills and resilience. These all help to ensure children are always school-ready and equipped for success.
"The childminder helps children to make outstanding progress in relation to their starting points. Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stages in their learning, including their move to school".
